renovation of a sixties kitchen

The original sixties kitchen was tucked away behind a beautiful wooden cabinet wall. When our client asked us to create a more open connection between the kitchen and the living area, the challenge was to do so without losing the charm of the existing elements. Rather than tearing everything down, we opted for a minimal intervention — opening up the enclosed space while preserving its character, including the original pass-through.

The island and cabinetry feature gentle curves in HPL, with signature ’60s handles arranged in a playful pattern. The steel leg of the island was inspired by the home’s original stair balustrade — a subtle detail that ties the new design back to the house itself.

We couldn’t resist snapping a few photos already — even though the final coat of paint is still to come.
